'I Had A Thought For No One's But Your Ears'
Single draft with light on-page edits composed between 1/2 and 1/14 in 2014
Your particularity—your smile, laugh, addictions, and delights—
Is what entrances agony in me.
In my heart, you walk with certain steps
A line too fine for my eyes to descry;
And yet that line exists—I walk it too,
Though with less grace, more pains, I think, than you.
If there is a God—as we will both maintain
By means, but not by cause, of reason’s claims—
He placed at heart of everything He made
The true love which is seed of all creation,
Whether His or ours—implicit revelation
Of the Lover through beloved to the self
That strives for apprehension, strives to love,
Both in- and de-spite self’s infirmity—
An so all being rests on this foundation.
Your existence, truth of your creation,
Emblem to those few who know or knew you
Of God’s joy and goodness, love and light,
Being and intentions, quickens us
And clarifies our sight.
If you enjoy the coziness in here—and yes, I’ll look into getting the A/C fixed—why not
